CourtSync lets academies define their own student grouping system instead of relying on the default juniors/adults/all split.
Default vs. custom age groups
By default, lessons use legacy age group fields (juniors, adults, all) with optional ball color for junior Hot Shots pathways (red, orange, green, yellow).
When you configure custom age groups, lessons use age group ID instead — a foreign key to your academy's age group definitions.

Open Age Groups settings
Navigate to Academy Settings → Age Groups. Here you can view, add, edit, reorder, and deactivate groups. Default groups may be seeded when you first configure custom grouping.

Choose a grouping method
CourtSync supports three methods:
- Age range — e.g., "Juniors 7–10", "Teens 11–15"
- Ball color — Hot Shots pathway labels (red, orange, green, yellow)
- Custom — free-form labels like "High Performance U12"

Create and order groups
Add each group with a name, method, and optional age range or ball color. Drag to reorder groups — the order affects how they appear in lesson creation and public filters.
Deactivate groups you no longer use rather than deleting them, to preserve historical booking and makeup credit compatibility.

Apply age groups to lessons
When creating or editing lessons, select a custom age group from the dropdown. The legacy age group and ball color fields are replaced by the age group ID selector.
Public lesson pages filter by your custom groups, giving guardians a clearer browsing experience.

Makeup credit compatibility
When a student earns a makeup credit from a lesson with an age group ID, the credit can only be redeemed on lessons assigned to the same age group record (the same dropdown option in lesson settings — not merely a similar label).
Legacy credits without an age group ID follow the original age group and ball color matching rules.
When you save a lesson that students missed, CourtSync refreshes available credits earned from that lesson so skill level and age group changes apply without students needing a new credit. Ensure replacement lessons you want to offer use matching age group and skill level settings.
